It is estimated that up to 17 percent, or almost 250,000, of Indiana’s children and adolescents have some type of mental disorder. Junior Mental Health America of Vigo County (JMHAVC) is our proactive approach to fostering mental wellness in area teens and young adults.
JMHAVC serves as an educational forum for middle and high school students and provides volunteer and leadership opportunities for its members. MHAVC staff members collaborate with Vigo County middle and high schools to facilitate the Too Good For Drugs program and No Fear Future clubs. These programs teach students how to develop interpersonal skills to resist peer pressures and make healthy choices, as well as encouraging leadership skills through community service opportunities.
